House Rewiring in Hampshire

Full and partial rewires for houses, flats and period properties, planned around you and finished with a full electrical certificate.

Full and partial rewires

Old wiring is one of the most common causes of electrical faults

Wiring does not last for ever. Cables installed forty or more years ago were never designed for the number of appliances, chargers and devices a modern household uses, and older installations often have no RCD protection at all.

We rewire homes across Hampshire, from Victorian terraces to 1970s semis and modern extensions. We plan the work room by room, protect your floors and furniture, and keep disruption to a minimum. When we finish, every circuit is tested and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate for your records.

Signs your home may need rewiring

If you notice any of the following, it is worth having the installation checked:

  • Old rubber, fabric or black-and-red coloured cables
  • A fuse box with rewireable fuses instead of circuit breakers
  • Burning smells, scorch marks or warm sockets and switches
  • Lights that flicker or circuits that trip regularly
  • Too few sockets and lots of extension leads
  • No recent Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

A typical three-bedroom house usually takes around a week, depending on the size of the property, access and how much plastering is needed afterwards.

Usually yes. We work room by room and restore power at the end of each day wherever possible, so most families stay at home throughout.

It depends on the age and condition of the wiring. After testing we will explain what is safe to keep and what needs replacing, so you only pay for the work you need.

Some chasing of walls and lifting of floorboards is unavoidable, but we keep it to a minimum, protect your home while we work and leave everything clean and tidy.
